Why i wear a red string bracelet…..

My red string is always on my left wrist. In fact i find it almost impossible to leave the house without it.The only way to explain it is”i just don’t feel right” when it’s not there on me.

Over the years my ‘religion’ and belief system has changed greatly.Eighteen years ago my only faith was catholisism.I wouldn’t stray from it and i was determined to raise my daughter Anastasia as such.I began learning to drive simply so she could attend the catholic school which was in the next town to where we lived. She was baptised and we attended church. My beliefs and views were solid.I was very anti-abortion and anti-divorce.MY views on everything were very black and white certainly no ‘grey area’.

Now i sit here as a much changed person with completly different views and a stronger sense of self.Instead of trying to inflict a certain belief system on others its much easier to just let them be themselves and to do whatever makes them happy….because that is all that realky matters.

Over the last eight years or so i cam honestly say i have fully lived life in a way i didn’t before which has led to my change of thoughts on practically everything.

Yes i belive in a higher power.

Yes i belive everything that happens to us is pre-destined.

Yes i belive that we live by design.

I certainly belive in karma.I’ve explored buddhism and delved slightly into kabbalah which is where the rest string comes into play.

I wear it as a constant reminder of my faith and beliefs.

Be kind always and if you can’t…learn to say nothing atall.

I belive it keeps away and certainly protects me from negativity and negative people.

It makes me feel i belong to something more powerful than we’ll ever know.

I would love both my children to wear the red string but of course that has to be their choice.

Its best to wear the red stri g on you’r left wrist as that is the closet to the heart, the receiving side of us.

My first bracelet was from amazon.it came with a prayer to say as the bracelet was being tied on.sadly it soaked up so much negativity it simply wouldn’t stay on.i tied it in the tightest knot possible but woyld randomly slide off!(apperently this is very common).I decided that paticular bracelet could take no more and i purchased the one i have now from Topshop of all places! and it stays firmly put!!

A red string is whatever you want it to be…..most importantly its your’s.

My love for Homesence…the lure of the red sticker.

Homesence, just saying it or hearing it fills me with some type of excitement.

I’ve loved interiors and making a home look good for as far back as i can remember. My poor ex husband…i face lifted the whole of our marital home, well he did,i done the designing and shopping part!

Even now,in the two homes i’ve had since, seeking and buying nice items for my home makes me so happy. It is amazing what a new succulent in a pretty pot or a print where the words really touch you can do.

I’m also of the age now where i don’t even apologise for it.Also one of the plus’s to living alone,i don’t have to!

There is really nowhere more suitable to feed my addiction. Its the place where i can go with ten pounds in my purse to spend(this is the case more often than not) and I KNOW i’ll find an item or items for my home that i’ll love and will make me happy when i look at them.

Isn’t that what shopping should truly be?

Of course half of the enjoyment is to be found looking in homesence THEN purchasing.Rows and rows of gorgeous plant pots, cushions, pictures and candles…oh my the candles. No matter how many times i tell myself i have enough just one more won’t hurt will it?

The smells, the packaging, the textures and the cheap prices….Which brings me to the pinacle of homesence.

My favourite part.Over the years i’ve found so manygood items in these sections and come out even happier when i do! The picture shows the results of my latest trip.(i try to go about once a month). The baking trays were ONE POUND each from seven pound each.It made my day.Like i said it’s the little things.

So what are you waiting for? Whether you have you’r own home or just you’r own room, take a tenner, even a fiver(at times i have) and i guarantee you’ll find a great item and have a great time.

Happy Hunting!

So here i am,a mama who’s single but surviving…

My names Julie and i’m forty three (how did that happen?!).I have two wonderful children.Anastasia, seventeen and Atticus who’s four(also how did that happen?!)

For the last seventeen years i have predomenaitly been a full time mummy. In that time i’ve worked as a credit agent(stressful to the max!) And also managed a Bodyshop party buisness.

I split from Anastasia’s dad when i was pregnant and became a happy single mum until i met her stepdad when she was just over one.In the next ten years we travelled(ibiza becoming one of my great loves)loved, created memories and married with Anastasia at my side as a bridesmaid.

As life happens we parted in 2010 and divorced a few years later. In 2014 my son Atticus came into the world. He also has a father who adores him and we are successfully raising him separatly but happier.

Becoming a mum to Atticus gave me a second chance at motherhood which i honestly never thought i’d have.I like to think i’m a better mother now, more mellow and certainly more relaxed.

Times approching for Atticus to start full time school(what?!) And with this comes maybe a little more freedom to explore a career of my own.Whilst feeling a little lost in the world of work and for the moment undecided where i want to go with it i find myself here wanting to share my journey past, present and future.

I adore clothes,anything astetically pleasing,intereiors,,my vw beetle and yes,coffee.

I hope to share tips on all the above as well as money management,or lack of!,relationship issues, mama struggles and well everything really.

Being authentic is key to me and for you so i will always aim to be real, good or bad but always just my way…..

So if you have read this far you might as well stick around……….xxx
